As a child I was scared of the dark, and as a result I always wanted to turn the lights on. When I got older I wanted the job to turn the gas lamps of Beacon Hill on, but to my dismay I couldn’t get that job. Automation, electrification, and the fact we don’t turn those lamps off meant my job prospects had dimmed over time.
