Catie is named after Catie Copley, the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s canine ambassador. She was the city’s favorite dog who passed away in 2017 after 15 years of service with the Fairmont. She was considered family not only to the Fairmont but to the folks at BDT and we wanted to commemorate all the joy that she brought to this world by being with us. Her name was also a nod to Copley Square, which the Fairmont overlooks. Located in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston and home to one of the most influential architectural buildings in the United States, the Trinity Church. The square was once home to the Museum of Fine Arts (now the Fairmont Copley Plaza) and is still the site of the Boston Public Library, the first public lending library in the United States.
